How testing works
Every tool in a ranking gets the same task, the same input and the same settings. We publish what each tool produced, what it cost and the test date, and we score it against a rubric that's published in advance. The full rules are on How we test.
Affiliate links
Some "Visit" buttons on tool pages are affiliate links. If you sign up or pay through one, the tool maker may pay us a commission, and you pay nothing extra. These links are marked rel="sponsored", and every tool page with one says so next to the button.
Affiliates don't affect rankings
- We choose which tools to test by use case, not by whether they have an affiliate program. Tools without one are tested and ranked the same way.
- Scores come from the published rubric and measured outputs. A commission never changes a score, a rank or whether a winner is named.
- Being in an affiliate program gives a tool maker no say over our tests, results or wording.
- We don't run paid ads or bid on tool brand names through these programs.
